2. Read our online shopping tips and find an item you wish to purchase online
3. Add funds to your intacard to the amount of your desired purchase - plus $1.50 ($1.00 load fee, $0.50 web purchase fee)
4. Purchase the item using your Intacard

After making the purchase your card ends up with a zero balance, and you have not risked using a credit card that has a credit balance which fraudsters could potentially access. There is also no risk of interest fees or late payment fees.

Tips to shopping safely online

• Shop with online businesses you know by reputation or recommendation
• Look for a physical address or landline number on the site and check the number is working
• Send an email to the site to see if this is active
• Search for the name of the site or business on a major search engine for positive feedback and recommendations
• Look at the address bar in your browser to see if the site appears genuine, as there are numerous instances of sites being set up mirrors of real sites
• When on the purchase page check to see if the site uses a secure socket layer by checking if there is an "s" after http. The sites address should start as follows "https://" the s indicates a secure socket layer is in use to protect your details.
• Remember, unlike secure order forms on a web site, e-mail messages are not private. Never send confidential, personal or financial information by e-mail.
• Read the privacy policy to ensure you are comfortable with how the business collects, protects, and uses your personal information before you submit any details. Be very wary of sites with no privacy policy.
• Read the terms and conditions of the contract to make sure you understand the delivery options/charges, return policy, and product or service warranty. For international transactions, ensure you are aware of the current exchange rate and any applicable duties and taxes.
